Houben Cherkelov: I get the demons out of money
June 2018 My interview with Houben Cherkelov in 2018 was on the occasion of his two exhibitions in Sofia at the time – “Imane” – at the Museum of Contemporary Art “Sofia Arsenal” and “120 Faces” – at the National Archaeological Museum. Houben and I met at Costa Café on Sheinovo Street in the heart of the capital of Bulgaria. He told me that Andy Warhol with his serial portraits inspired his exhibition 120 Faces, which was also presented in New York in 2017.

Carla Bayle is a village situated on a hill in southwestern France, on the ruins of an ancient Huguenot citadel. It is surrounded by a terrace offering wonderful views of the surrounding hills, fields, lake and the Pyrenees at their very heart. It is famous for its many galleries and exhibition halls, more in number than the locals, and for the plastic arts festival that has been held there for 20 years. On one of the festive Thursdays, when farmers from the surrounding area sell food and wine, street performers have glided through the town. Painters, sculptors, and ceramicists have all opened their galleries for free admission. This is how we come across Tristan Ra.
