The list of people he has photographed looks like a Who’s Who book of the most influential politicians, showbiz stars and celebrities of the last fifty years. There are Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Andy Warhol and Eddie Sedgwick, Rene Magritte, Woody Allen, Roman Polanski, Orson Welles, Sophia Loren, Michael Jackson. Photographs by Steve Shapiro are part of the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery in New York. He has also exhibited in Los Angeles, Amsterdam, London and Paris.
